Specializing in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) and regenerative injection therapy (RIT, “prolotherapy”) for the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction.

“Pain is a symptom ... and to alleviate symptomatic pain it must be treated at it’s source.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

OMM addresses structural dysfunction wherever it is found. This dysfunction can be relatively simple, as in a new or minor injury, or a very complex dysfunction involving multiple levels of the spine/neck or extremities, as in compound, cumulative injuries.

OMM techniques are designed to bring the musculoskeletal system back to normal. During our lifetime the musculoskeletal system is continually compensating for injuries, beginning as early as the birth process, through childhood injuries and adult accidents – affecting us throughout our lifetimes. Each individual’s pattern of compensation is unique, based on our family history (scoliosis) and injury history (fracture, sprain, strains, sports injuries, etc.). With each insult to the body’s normal balance, the body’s inner drive to compensate to maintain balance is dominant. But when it cannot compensate anymore, symptoms begin to appear. These symptoms can be as different as the individuals experiencing them. Common symptoms of dysfunction are pain in the area of the body’s weakest links – often the lowback, back, neck, and joints.

Evaluation of these symptoms require a full patient history and examination of the whole body from toes to head, including the head itself. Dysfunction is treated wherever it is found to bring the whole system back to normal, improve flexibility, function and eliminate the symptomatic pain.

The Osteopathic Approach aims to change the body’s structure back towards normal and address and improve the physiology of the whole system. It is a holistic approach to maintain health and treat all levels and areas of pain at their source.

Some typical techniques included in OMM are listed below. All are aimed to improve structural balance and bring musculoskeletal functioning back to normal.
  • Muscle-Energy
  • Cranial-Sacral
  • HVLA – High Velocity, Low Amplitude
  • Myofacial Release
  • Percusssion
  • Range-of-Motion Techniques
  • Jones-Counterstrain
  • Bending Flexion/Forward Bending
  • HALV – High Amplitude, Low Velocity
